Former Miss SA Creative Director Werner Wessels, who resigned from the Miss South Africa (Miss SA) organization, has been praised by past winners for empowering women in the pageant. His tenure resulted in two Miss Universe wins, a Miss World, and Miss Supranational victory, and several runner-up placements.
