💨 Abstract
For the first time in over 20 years, a critically endangered riverine rabbit has been photographed in the Sutherland area of South Africa's Karoo region. The rabbit, known for inhabiting dense vegetation along dry riverbeds, has seen its population decline due to habitat loss from cultivation and livestock grazing. The Cape Leopard Trust captured the image using a camera trap, suggesting that flooding may have driven the rabbit to higher ground.
