Processed meats pose significant health risks due to their high content of salt, sugar, and fat. Over 82% of packaged foods are ultra-processed, and processed meats are particularly concerning. The World Health Organization classifies them as Group 1 carcinogens, linking them to colorectal cancer and other health issues. They also contain preservatives like nitrates and nitrites, which can form harmful compounds. Processed meats often have lower nutritional value, contributing to poor dietary choices.
