Mussels originally from Spain found their way to Saldanha Bay, South Africa, through Spanish fishing vessels centuries ago. Today, these mussels are cultivated in Saldanha Bay due to its nutrient-rich waters and strong currents, providing a sustainable and environmentally responsible seafood choice. Mussel farming also provides vital employment opportunities for the local community.
