💨 Abstract
Leaving dogs in cars during South Africa's summer can be deadly. Dogs can't cool themselves like humans and can suffer heat stress or stroke, leading to organ failure or death. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA warns that car interiors can reach 50°C quickly. If you see a dog in a hot car, contact the police or SPCA instead of breaking the window. It's best to leave dogs at home if you can't take them with you.
