South African driver Henk Lategan won the 8th stage of the Dakar Rally, consolidating his lead in the driver standings. He covered the 487km special between Al-Duwadimi and Riyadh in 4 hours 51 minutes and 54 seconds. Lategan, who won the prologue, now leads by 5:41 over home hope Yazeed al-Rajhi.
