đź’¨ Abstract
An expert from the Federation of Governing Bodies of South African Schools (FEDSAS) has stated that the current school fees exemption formula may not be effectively assisting those in need due to being based on relative wealth, not affordability. The number of applications has significantly increased since the pandemic, with FEDSAS calling for a review of the formula to ensure it benefits the intended recipients, the poor.
