💨 Abstract
Stellenbosch University confirmed that 19-year-old theology student Chris Scheffers died of meningococcal meningitis. The university is conducting contact tracing and has activated its meningitis response protocol. The disease, which is endemic in the Western Cape, can be fatal if not treated early. The university community is advised to be vigilant for symptoms resembling flu but escalating quickly.
