💨 Abstract
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has criticized the high salaries of senior executives in South Africa's struggling state-owned enterprises (SOEs), noting that over R400 million is spent annually on executive pay despite poor performance and bailouts. The DA cited examples such as the CSIR, SAA, Rand Water, and PetroSA, where executives earn millions while services fail. The DA called for reform, accountability, and a tie between executive pay and performance to restore public confidence and improve service delivery.
