đź’¨ Abstract
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) in South Africa has been authorized by a Gauteng High Court ruling to publish matric results in newspapers. The 2025 results will be released on January 12, 2026. The court dismissed an application by the Information Regulator, which sought to prevent the publication due to privacy concerns. The court found that using examination numbers does not infringe on learners' privacy rights under POPIA.
