💨 Abstract

A doctor and three nurses from Port Shepstone Regional Hospital were among 66 people arrested for drunken driving in KwaZulu-Natal. The MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, expressed disappointment, noting that 60% of hospital trauma cases are linked to alcohol-related accidents. The doctor faces additional charges for escaping lawful detention. Since mid-August, 399 drunk driving arrests were recorded in the area.
