💨 Abstract
In Australia, Facebook and Instagram have started deactivating accounts of users under 16 ahead of a December 10 deadline. This move follows an amendment to the Online Safety Act, which requires certain social media platforms to prevent under-16s from having accounts. Meta, the parent company, has also announced plans to block new account creations by under-16s.
