💨 Abstract

The Hawks, South Africa's serious crime-fighting unit, dismantled a global investment scam, arresting six ringleaders and 25 call-center agents in Johannesburg. The syndicate targeted retirees with significant savings, using fake investment opportunities promoted on social media. They operated illegal call centers in Gauteng and the Western Cape, convincing victims to invest larger sums after showing false high returns.
