đź’¨ Abstract

Internet users in parts of South Africa may experience slower internet speeds this week due to emergency repairs on the West Africa Cable System (WACS), a major undersea data cable. The cable, which connects South Africa to Europe, went offline after a fault was detected in a branching unit near Swakopmund, Namibia. Engineers are working to replace the damaged component, but repairs could take until mid-June, depending on sea conditions.
