💨 Abstract
Maponya Mall in Soweto closed temporarily due to protests following the murder of an e-hailing driver outside the mall. The driver was shot dead, and two others were injured, with their vehicles set alight. The violence is part of ongoing tensions between e-hailing operators and taxi drivers. Protesters blocked roads and called for action against what they call the taxi industry's violent monopolization.
