💨 Abstract
A South African man, part of a group of 41 who escaped a scam operation in Myanmar, was found in a Thai prison. The 25-year-old had been beaten for refusing to participate in the fraudulent activities. He was located by private security working with an NPO and is now being repatriated. The South African government and NGOs are working to repatriate more victims, with over 1,000 people fleeing Myanmar recently.
