💨 Abstract
A rare first edition of J.R.R. Tolkien’s "The Hobbit" sold for £43,000 (R1 million) at an auction in the UK. Found during a house clearance in Bristol, it was one of 1,500 original copies printed in 1937, with only a few hundred believed to remain. The book, featuring Tolkien’s illustrations, fetched over four times the expected price, highlighting its rare value.
