💨 Abstract
President Cyril Ramaphosa is considering additional measures to alleviate the burden of rising fuel prices in South Africa. He highlighted a temporary R3 reduction in the general fuel levy as an initial step. Global factors, such as the conflict in the Middle East, are driving up oil and petrol prices, affecting food costs as well. Ramaphosa called for an immediate ceasefire. Other countries like Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia have implemented various measures to reduce fuel consumption and manage demand.
