💨 Abstract
Public trust in the South African Police Service (SAPS) has hit an all-time low of 22%, according to the latest South African Social Attitudes Survey by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). This decline, from a relatively stable period between 1998 and 2010, accelerated after the 2012 Marikana massacre and recent unrest in 2021.
