đź’¨ Abstract
The Karoo desert in South Africa is experiencing a poaching crisis, with rare succulent species being illegally harvested to meet international demand. The poaching has endangered unique species and disrupted local communities, with organized crime syndicates driving the illegal trade. Succulents, which thrive in arid conditions, are highly sought after by collectors in the US, Europe, and East Asia.
