💨 Abstract

Sierra Leone has declared monkeypox (mpox), caused by the Clade II variant, a public health emergency. The outbreak, confirmed on January 16, 2025, has affected males and females aged 20-39 equally, with person-to-person transmission, including through intimate contact. The World Health Organization (WHO) and international organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and UNICEF have provided vaccines and support.
