💨 Abstract

A powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck off Russia's Kamchatka peninsula, triggering tsunamis across the Pacific. South Africa’s coast was declared safe. The quake was one of the strongest recorded, causing evacuations and damage in Russia, Japan, and other Pacific coastal areas. No serious injuries were reported in Russia, but one person died in Japan during the evacuation. Authorities in various countries issued warnings and advisories, leading to precautionary measures and evacuations.
