💨 Abstract
South Africa's toll plazas are set to upgrade to contactless "tap-to-pay" systems by December 2025. The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) will start a phased rollout in late 2025, with the goal of enhancing speed and security. This move aligns with new banking regulations phasing out magnetic stripe cards.
