💨 Abstract
Jesse Kriel was named captain of the Springboks for their first Test against Italy. He becomes the 67th Springbok skipper, following Siya Kolisi's injury. Castens was the first captain in 1891, and John Smit holds the record for most capped captains, with 83 appearances. Felix and Morné du Plessis are the only father-son duo to have captained South Africa.
