Orlando Pirates were eliminated from the CAF Champions League in the second preliminary round despite scoring three goals in their final match against Saint Eloi Lupopo. They needed a 4-0 victory to advance but only managed a 3-0 win, leading to a penalty shootout where Lupopo won 5-4.
