💨 Abstract
The MTN8, South Africa's premier football cup competition, has been contested since 1972. It features the top eight teams from the previous DStv Premiership season. The tournament has undergone name changes, being sponsored by BP (1972-2002) and SAA (2003-2007), before MTN took over in 2008.
