South African tennis player Kgothatso Montjane was forced to withdraw from the Australian Open quarter-finals due to illness. She battled through her first round match against Lucy Shuker, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, but her energy levels plummeted quickly. Montjane retired after leading 4-1 in the second set.
