💨 Abstract
As of October 12, 2025, South Africans traveling to 29 European countries, including Schengen members and four associated nations, must use the new Entry/Exit System (EES). This digital system replaces traditional passport stamps with electronic registration for short stays (up to 90 days within 180 days). It tracks entry and exit dates, ensuring compliance with visa rules. Children under 12 are exempt from fingerprinting but need facial image capture.
