💨 Abstract

After 15 years of silence, Cape Town City Hall’s clock tower has resumed chiming, marking a successful restoration. Built in 1905 by the makers of London's Big Ben, the clock fell silent around 2010 due to a mechanical failure. A six-month restoration by the City of Cape Town brought the clock back to life. The ceremony was led by Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and addressed City heritage conservation efforts.
