💨 Abstract
Devil’s Peak, a 1,000-meter mountain in Cape Town, is renowned for its spear-like shape and rich folklore. Indigenous Khoikhoi legends associate it with the deity Tsui-Goab, while Dutch settlers named it Windberg. The mountain’s current name stems from an 18th-century tale where a Dutchman, Jan van Hunks, smoked with the Devil, who then took him away.
