💨 Abstract

An Australian woman, Erin Patterson, was found guilty of murdering her husband's parents and aunt by lacing their beef Wellington with toxic death cap mushrooms. The jury did not accept her claim that the poisoning was accidental. Patterson also faced charges of attempting to murder a fourth guest who survived. The trial highlighted her meticulous planning and deceptions, such as lying about a cancer diagnosis and owning a food dehydrator used to process the mushrooms.
