💨 Abstract

The sleep trend of mouth taping, popularized by celebrities like Erling Haaland and Gwyneth Paltrow, is warned against by scientists due to potential suffocation risks. The practice aims to encourage nose breathing during sleep, with claimed benefits like reducing snoring and bad breath. However, a review of 10 studies found little evidence of benefit and notable risks, especially for those with nasal obstructions.
