💨 Abstract
The NHS is trialing "calm and welcoming" mental health A&E units to tackle overcrowding and poor treatment of patients. These 24/7 units, open to walk-ins and referrals, aim to address the "corridor care" crisis, where patients have died waiting in A&E corridors. Trialled across 10 NHS trusts, these units are staffed by specially-trained personnel and feature emotional support dogs and amenities like tea and biscuits.
