💨 Abstract

In England, deadly fungal infections, particularly Candida auris and Candida albicans, are increasing. Candida auris, which is drug-resistant and easily spreads in hospitals, reported 637 cases between 2013 and 2024. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is concerned, attributing the rise to complex surgeries, longer hospital stays, and increased antibiotic use.
