💨 Abstract

A 71-year-old woman from Texas died after contracting a brain-eating infection, likely from using tap water in an RV's system to rinse her sinuses. The infection was caused by the amoeba Naegleria fowleri, which thrives in warm freshwater. The woman used a nasal irrigation device with non-boiled tap water, leading to severe neurological symptoms and death within days. Investigators found that the RV's water supply was not adequately disinfected.
