The Winter Fuel Payment, a state benefit for pensioners to cover heating costs during winter, will be available this year only to retirees on pension credit or other means-tested benefits. The amount received depends on the year of birth, with those born before September 1944 receiving £300 and others £200. If you qualify, you will receive a letter in October or November.
