💨 Abstract
Over 181,000 pensioners may have been underpaid in the state pension due to an error affecting those who claimed child benefit before 2000 and have gaps in their National Insurance records, particularly related to the Home Responsibilities Protection (HRP) scheme. The DWP has allocated £1.1 billion for correction, but only a fraction has been paid out.
