💨 Abstract
The government is considering lifting the two-child benefit cap, which limits the full benefits parents can receive to two children. This policy reversal is suggested by Bridget Phillipson, the Education Secretary, but it would cost around £3 billion a year and may require tax increases. Labour figures, including Gordon Brown, are pushing for this change to address child poverty. Although Deputy PM Angela Rayner acknowledges it's not a single solution, it could signal help for struggling families.
