Recent figures show a slowdown in average earnings across the UK, with regular pay growing by 5.2% and total pay by 5.3% between February and April. When adjusted for inflation, growth was 2.1% for regular pay and 2.3% for total pay. The unemployment rate has risen to 4.6%, the highest in nearly four years, while economic inactivity slightly decreased.
