💨 Abstract
The M48 Severn Bridge will ban vehicles over 7.5 tonnes due to safety concerns over deteriorating cables. This decision, effective immediately, will cause major congestion as HGVs must take a 13-mile diversion back to the M4. Local businesses and drivers warn of potential travel chaos and economic impacts. The restriction will last at least 12 months to allow for necessary repairs.
