đź’¨ Abstract
Labour's plan to reduce Channel migrant crossings is expected to take effect no earlier than next year. Law enforcement sources indicate that efforts to disrupt smuggling networks and tackle boat suppliers will take several months to impact numbers. Additionally, 2025's favorable weather conditions have contributed to a significant increase in crossings, with more than 12,000 migrants having made the journey so far. The surge is also due to smugglers attempting riskier and larger crossings.
