Nearly 1 million children and young people in England were referred to mental health services last year, marking an increase of 10,000 from the previous year. Anxiety was the leading cause, with neurodevelopmental conditions and autism also prominent. Dame Rachel de Souza, the Children’s Commissioner, urged immediate action to reduce waiting times, highlighting the severe impact on children's well-being.
