💨 Abstract

Lucy Connolly, wife of a Conservative councillor, was jailed for 31 months for inciting racial hatred after posting inflammatory comments on social media following the Southport stabbings. She urged rioters to set fire to migrant hotels, wrongly claiming the attacker was an asylum seeker. Despite her appeal, the Court of Appeal upheld the sentence. Connolly admitted to having strong anti-immigration views and was found to have made racist posts before and after the Southport attacks.
