💨 Abstract
UK travelers are unlikely to benefit from faster e-gate passport checks in Europe this summer. While Sir Keir Starmer's new deal includes access to EU e-gates, which would expedite border control, the system awaits the implementation of a new biometric scheme in October. Even then, individual EU member states must approve access. Cabinet Office Minister Pat McFadden described summer implementation as "highly unlikely" due to delays. The scheme's future implementation remains uncertain.
