💨 Abstract
A 26-year-old woman, Rachel Smith, was paddling in shallow waters near Montego Bay, Jamaica, when a shark bit her left hand, severing her ring finger and causing severe injuries. Her sister, Lisa, helped her to safety. With no local surgeon available, Rachel and Lisa returned to Ireland, where Rachel underwent urgent surgery. Rachel and Lisa are recovering, but both have suffered from post-traumatic stress following the attack on May 8.
