💨 Abstract
Former Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has won a libel case against the BBC, securing €100,000 in damages. A jury in Dublin's High Court ruled that a BBC Spotlight program and an accompanying online story defamed Adams by falsely suggesting he approved the 2006 killing of Denis Donaldson. The program cited an anonymous source who alleged Adams gave the "final say" on the killing.
