💨 Abstract

A drought has been declared in the north-west of England, with water restrictions potentially affecting millions of Brits. The region has experienced a dry spring, causing groundwater levels and river flows to decline. While there are no current hosepipe bans, the Environment Agency has urged water companies to safeguard supplies. Dry conditions have revealed parts of the "lost village" of Mardale Green in the Lake District.
