💨 Abstract

A disabled mother, Jodey Whiting, tragically took her own life in 2017 after her benefits were slashed, leaving her unable to pay bills or buy food. An inquest initially recorded suicide but didn't consider the impact of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) cutting her benefits. Jodey, who was sick and housebound, received letters stating she was fit to work, leading to her benefits being stopped.
