💨 Abstract

Christopher Quarles, a Florida public defense lawyer, defended 48 Death Row inmates, including Aileen Wuornos, a notorious female serial killer. Wuornos, who claimed self-defense, was executed in 2002. Quarles found Wuornos mentally unstable, often threatening him. He recounted her erratic behavior and her claim of self-defense in killing six men. Quarles also defended Emilia Carr.
