💨 Abstract
On May 19, around 6 pm, two people were caught in a rip current off the North Tyneside coast. Emergency services, including lifeboats, ambulance, air ambulance, and police, responded to the incident. One person, initially in critical condition, was later pronounced dead. The other was admitted in a serious condition. Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade and surfers assisted in the rescue. The tragedy occurred near Cullercoats, a popular surfing spot.
